Why do you need to MARKET your website?

Once upon a time, before the internet, a business would get customers by using direct mail, word of mouth, the telephone, radio and even television if they had the budget for it... but now things have changed.
"GET A WEBSITE!" they said.
"IF YOU HAVE A WEBSITE, YOU'LL MAKE MILLIONS ONLINE!" they said.
"YOUR WEBSITE WILL DO ALL THE WORK FOR YOU!" they said....
Well who has fallen into this trap of thinking that if you have a business website, that your business will automatically grow and you will become rich?
I have so many people ask me "Dianne, if you build me a website, will my business grow and I wont have to do a thing?"
It's a YES and NO answer...
- Yes, if you have a good quality website, that has been designed and configured correctly, it will attract loads of traffic and new clients to your business for you to convert them into paying customers....
- And No, even if you do have a website, you are not guaranteed of online business success and growth unless you work that site and get it seen by the right people.
So how do we fix this problem and make a website grow a business?
YOU NEED TO MARKET IT!
Yes, it's true. Even if you have a website, you will still need to market it for it's not enough to just have a website out there in cyber space for the world to see, if the world isn't seeing it...
* Remember, your website is competing with millions of other websites around the world. You have much more competition online than you ever did in your local area, which makes more important than ever to get your website seen. And to do this, you need to market your site in the right way, to not only ensure business success but also to ensure your money is not being wasted.
As you look into marketing your site, a whole new set of problems emerge their ugly heads and it gets even harder to understand how to market your business website online... do you choose, Google Adwords, Facebook, Google +, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Blogging, Video Marketing, etc, etc... And the list goes on and on..
You can see how it's so easy to have a website and just leave it sit there to fend for itself, when you're being told by so many people what to do when it comes to marketing that site... Life can get pretty confusing for business owners if they don't know who to trust or what to do...
